SRC Borneo Eagles down Daveta to claim third straight Hottest 7s victory!
The SRC Borneo Eagles have taken out the 2012 Heineken Hottest 7s in the World with a 42-10 victory over Fijian side Daveta at Rugby Park Marrara in Darwin.
The Borneo Eagles of Malaysia are the first side in Hottest 7s history to win the tournament in 3 successive years, and they did it style by putting Daveta to sword with a dominant performance in the final and were never tested by a brave but tired Daveta side who had no answer to the flying Eagles who were amazing throughout the whole tournament and will take home the $24,000 1st place winners cheque.
Borneo Eagle's superstar Richie Ah Chong was named player of the Hottest 7s with seven tries; including 2 tries in the final.
Other Hottest 7 winner included the Aussie Pearls who defeated Queensland's Eastsyde 7s in tight Jabiru Final 7-5. Whilst the Darwin Mosquitoes grabbed the Buff trophy with a 22-17 golden point extra-time victory over local rivals the Kombat Casuarina Cougars.
Bungendore Mudchooks from Southern NSW will not leave the Darwin empty-handed, they were winners of the Barra Final beating local side Swampdogs 25-7.
