Hottest 7s announce updated seedings and pools

Today the updated seedings and pools for the Heineken Hottest 7s in the World were announced today. Twelfth seed Bula Boys were a late withdrawal from the tournament and have been replaced by University. This has led to a last-minute shuffling to the Division 1 and 2 seedings.

As expected international sides and fierce rivals the SRC Borneo Eagles (1) and Daveta (2) were named the top two seeds. Australian Thunderbolts and Super Rugby’s Brumbies were named third and fourth seeds.

Each of the Top 4 teams are dropped into a separate Division 1 Pool. Each of the Pools will be hotly contested with Pool C expected to be especially close with the Aussie Thunderbolts drawn with Territory sides Darwin Olympic, NT Mosquitoes and Woy Woy RUC from the NSW Central Coast.

Olympic of course were the side which knocked the Australian Thunderbolts team out of the Hottest 7s in the World last year with a shock 7-5 result.  The draw has the two teams scheduled to meet in the scorching midday heat at 12:30pm on Saturday.

Meanwhile in the women’s division The Aussie Pearls (1), Eastsyde (2) and the ACT Fillies (3) were named the competition’s top seeds.
