Borneo Eagles and URL Samurai surprise top seeds for the 2010 Final

International Invitation teams Borneo Eagles and URL Samurai have surprised the top three seeds of Drifters, Wakimbizi 7's and Aussie Spirit by male the final of the Heineken Hottest 7's in the World with the Borneo Eagles being impressive to take the title 36-21.

Both teams had varying matches in their semis to get to the play off. The URL Samurai team had a big win over tournament favourites the South Sea Drifters. The Borneo Eagles found it much tougher with a sudden death try in extra time against the Wakimbizi 7's side from Kenya.

In the final Borneo Eagles took the match to Samurai early and with a couple of brilliant individual efforts from player of the tournament Rocky Khan they took a good lead. Samurai were able to come back just before half time to keep them in the contest.

The Eagles were up to the task and scored early in the second half, which was enough to give them the edge for the rest of the match. The Samurai team scored two late tries to make it a more respectable score line.

In the earlier finals the local NT Mosquitoes were far to strong for the premier Brisbane side Sunnybank 29-5 in the Buff Trophy.

The Queensland Women were to strong for the NSW/ACT Amazons combination 24-5 in the Jabiru Trophy.

Local teams Alice Springs Spacific took out the Barra competition 31-5, while Brahman Boks defeated Unis 2nds 31-7.
